How a campaign works
Each campaign runs about four weeks. The Christmas campaign is shorter because of school break, and spring is lighter because of state testing.
Two members of our team email a one page flyer for each child to the schools on our list. The flyer carries the child's photo, age, diagnosis and favorite things, so classrooms know exactly who they are making cards for. About two weeks after the cards stop coming in, we deliver them by hand.
How your school takes part
Any grade can do it, and so can clubs, churches, scout troops and youth teams.
- Ask us for the current flyers and we will email them to you
- Print the flyer and read it to the class
- Make the cards, any grade, any size group
- Mail them in or arrange a handoff with us
What makes a good card
Handmade beats store bought every time. Encouragement, a drawing, a joke, a favorite team, anything that tells a kid somebody out there is thinking about them. Our team reads every card the week before delivery, so keep it about the child.
Send cards for the open campaign only
Cards and gifts that arrive for a child whose delivery has already happened mean a second trip out to that family. Ask us for the current flyers before your class starts, and we will make sure you have the right children.
