Terms of Use

The ground rules for using https://operationsurpriseattack.org and the forms on it.

Agreeing to these terms

By using this website you agree to what is on this page. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms sit alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your information.

Last updated September 11, 2026.

Who can use this site

Anyone can read this site. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian before you send us anything through a form.

An application for a child has to be submitted by that child's parent or legal guardian. Nobody else can apply on a family's behalf without them.

Applying for a child

Submitting an application is a request, not a booking. We read every one and we call the family, but we cannot take every child. We run a small number of children per campaign, we serve Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, and we drive every delivery ourselves, which is what sets our limits.

We do not promise a campaign, a date, a number of cards, or an amount of support. Anything we describe on this site is what a campaign has typically looked like, not a guarantee of what yours will look like.

What you tell us about a child has to be accurate. We build a flyer that goes to schools on the strength of it.

Donations

Operation Surprise Attack is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, EIN 87-3484307. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We are not your tax advisor, so check with yours about your own situation.

Donations are processed by PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, or Zeffy, and each has its own terms and fees. When you donate you are also agreeing to the terms of whichever one you used.

Gifts are generally final. If you donated by mistake, or something went wrong, contact us and we will work it out with you.

We direct donations where they are needed most across our programs unless you have told us the gift is for something specific.

Photos, stories and anything else you send us

When you send us a photo, a story, or a message, you keep ownership of it. You give us permission to use it for our work, which means campaign materials, this website, our social media, and requests for support.

You are confirming that it is yours to send, and that anyone identifiable in a photo is fine with us using it.

We ask separately and explicitly before using a child's photo or story, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.

We do not have to use anything you send, and we can stop using it whenever we decide to.

Cards, gifts and deliveries

Our team reads every card before it goes to a family. We do our best to catch anything inappropriate, but these are handmade by thousands of schoolchildren and we cannot promise we catch everything.

Gifts come from donors and sponsors and vary from campaign to campaign. We do not warrant donated goods, and any manufacturer warranty is between you and that manufacturer.

Our content

The text, photographs, logo and design on this site belong to Operation Surprise Attack or are used with permission. You are welcome to share links to our pages, and to use our campaign flyers for the purpose we sent them to you. Please ask before using anything else.

Do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, or to raise money that does not reach us.

Using the site properly

Do not submit false applications, do not send anyone else's personal information without their permission, do not try to break into or disrupt the site, and do not scrape it to harvest contact details.

We can decline service to anyone misusing the site or misrepresenting a child's situation.

Links to other sites

We link out to payment services, our Facebook page, and sometimes to news coverage. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for them. Their terms and privacy policies apply once you leave here.

No warranty, and the limit of what we owe you

This site is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise it will be error free or always up.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of this site. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. The date at the top tells you when we last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, and any dispute belongs in the courts serving Perrysburg, OH.
